The service continued to grow and when declared bankruptcy at the end of 2001, the Webshots assets were purchased back by the founders for $2.5 million in cash. In October 1999, Webshots was sold to for $82.5 million in stock. The Webshots Community launched in 1999 as the first photo sharing website with an emphasis on public sharing.

Even the "pee pics" people post nowadays definitely aren't nowhere near as explicit as the webshots days. People are definitely a lot more conservative now on what they post in social media nowadays, especially now that potential employers/current employers/companies, professionals, etc. I think Twitter/instagram occasionally will have its treasures, and new pics are definitely posted more often no doubt, but they just don't have the same feel to them as they did in the past. But I really laugh at some obvious not real wetting pictures that I considered 10 years ago as completely real and gave me happy - uhum - you what moments. Don't wanna talk bad about Webshots or whatever in those days, don't get me wrong. The just very low-resolution screens and pics by then worked on my imagination I think. Have to admit that looking at them again now, about 95% of what I thought then was a real wetting, I'm sure wasn't. I downloaded the Webshots zips because I lost about all of them - sounds familiar huh - during computer crashes. Checking that site daily for - wild guess - 12 years now. I'm very happy with They post the pics that I don't have time for anymore to find myself. I don't have the time anymore to search for pictures the whole day. You don't wanna know how high my phone bills were in those days, only searching for desperation and pee things. In the beginning of the internet I had to pay per minute - phoneline - for internet use. They were great in those days because there wasn't much else. Now I easily find 1 real wetting picture a day via Twitter for instance, and if I would have the time to search more languages and more phrases I'm sure I would find easily at least 10 a day. I remember finding 1 real picture a week was like hitting bulls eye. I think you can find a lot more of those pictures nowadays than lets say 10 years ago when Webshots started. It's harder to find good wetting/desperation pictures nowadays.Īh well.
